Given that we are raising money for our young people – our future – it seemed appropriate to make the event as sustainable and ‘future-proof’ as possible too.
We also wanted to put the emphasis on ‘local’ and the Ball’s focal point – an amazing meal – is the perfect way to showcase local producers while showing how small choices can have a big effect on making meals more planet-friendly.
Food accounts for nearly a third of total annual greenhouse gas emissions globally, and food waste is half of that – so this is definitely an area where there’s ‘room for improvement’.
So we’ve set ourselves the challenge of throwing an amazing, ‘highlight-of-the-calendar-event’ with a top notch feast as the centrepiece, with the lowest footprint possible – determined not to compromise on quality, glamour or fun!
Our fabulous four-course menu is all about local and ‘sustainably produced’ ingredients sourced within 20 miles of The Charltons to ensure the lowest possible food miles.
